VILLAWETTUWAN, BATTICALOA, SRI LANKA (02/10/2020) – “My husband Kailasipillai and I moved into this house in 2019 as we got married. I was living in a temporary shelter with my sister and niece before this. They were the only family I had until I got married. I selected a CSEB house as I heard it was cool and comfortable, plus that it is environmentally friendly. I saw how beautiful the other CSEB houses were in my village and was eager to start life in such a home. We also got a motor to pump water for our rice cultivation. Last year we had a good harvest. This year we are blessed with our son Pratheekshan. I feel life is complete now. We have not only moved to a new home but also moved from a life of uncertainty to a life of stability and hope.” Photographer: Jeevani Fernando.
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) envisions a world where everyone has a decent place to live. HFHI works in nearly 70 countries, and partners with affiliates like Cayuga County Habitat for Humanity (CCHFH) to support international development programs. One way to do so through tithing – one of the most effective ways to strengthen ministry overseas. HFHI’s tithe program supports carefully chosen building and shelter projects that provide housing in the world’s poorest places.
CCHFH strives to give 10% of its operating budget to Haiti Habitat. It is an honor and privilege that we here in Cayuga County can support and partner with a sister affiliate in another corner of this world to provide affordable housing to people in desperate need.
